How can I get the music from my iPod onto the computer or laptop?

First copy your ipod’s content into your hard drive using windows explorer and the ipod into disk mode.
Then go for synchronisation…indeed it will delete and synchronize to your machines folder what ever you set.
You can use an ipod to computer transfer program to copy all the songs from ipod to your new iTunes.I personally use Cucusoft iPhone/iTouch/iPod to Computer Transfer.It helps me to transfer my songs/videos/photos from ipod to my computer directly and safely.It works well for me,you can give it a try.
